Being in wedding photography you meet a lot of couples. However, once in awhile, you meet a couple whose depth of love takes your breath away. Amelia & John are one of those couples. I first "met" John and Amelia while out at dinner with a dear friend of mine. One that happened to have been Amelia's former science teacher in middle school. Coincidentally, Amelia had also been in the club we sponsored together called Critter Club. Amelia came over to say hi and we all started chatting. I gave Amelia my congratulations and card and was blessed to have heard back from her soon after. They wanted me to do their engagement and wedding photography.
We agreed to meet at Kennesaw Mountain near Pigeon Hill on an early Sunday morning in June. I enjoyed my time getting to know them as we made out way to the creek taking pictures. During our conversations I learned that John had sold his prized possession, his Mustang, to buy a ring and propose to Amelia. If that does not take your breath away, I do not know what else will.
John & Amelia tied the knot in a small, intimate ceremony at a venue just outside of Canton, GA called Fendley Farmstead. The venue has a beautiful Bridal Cottage, as well as a space for the men to get ready, a restored barn, and a large covered pavilion. The decorations used perfectly suited this couple's laid back personalities and their small country wedding theme; several guests even wore their boots! John and his groomsmen looked handsome in their khaki colored suits and the Bridesmaids looked beautiful in their coordinating dresses. However, noone could quite match the beauty of Amelia. Amelia wore a dress that had once belonged to her mother, altering the once long sleeves into a halter more appropriate for the season. The happiness and love that was radiating out of her made her glow in a way that only a woman in love, marrying her soulmate can.
Not only is this couple madly in love, but they are also a ton of fun! Like most men, John doesn't love having his photo taken, but he will do ANYTHING to make Amelia happy. On the plus side, their happiness for the day along with the excitement & happiness of their family and friends, made photos a breeze. We took traditional portraits as well as some fun posed photos with the Bridal Party, several of the Bride & Groom laughing with one another and enjoying each other's company during their private portrait session, and few silly ones from when the bridal party came and crashed their private session!
Heading into the reception was like heading into a family gathering. And it had all the necessary requirements for a great party: good food, good music, and good conversation! The buzz of conversation and laughter filled the air throughout the night as everyone celebrated John & Amelia. Towards the end of the night everyone gathered to take impromptu family photos before sending John & Amelia off on their honeymoon.
In my opinion, it was a perfect day. John & Amelia, Thank you for allowing me to be a witness to the start of your life together. It truly was an honor. I hope that you have been enjoying your honeymoon and enjoy this peek of your photos when you get back.
Best Wishes for a long, happy life together.
